Elina Svitolina ‘very much’ enjoying motherhood, hints when she plans to play again

Elina Svitolina is “very much” enjoying motherhood and hinted that her tennis return will “soon” be happening. Svitolina, 28, became a mother for the first time last October after she and her husband Gael Monfils became parents to a baby girl Skai.

Through her Instagram account, Svitolina answered some fan questions. “How are you enjoying being a mom?” one fan asked Svitolina. Svitolina answered: “Enjoying veryyy much.” Another fan asked Svitolina: “When will you come back on the Tour? We are missing you.” Svitolina shared a photo of her practicing on clay and answered: “Soon.”

Svitolina ‘taking it day at a time’

In February, Svitolina told Reuters she was taking it one day at a time when it came to her tennis return.

“Right now I’m taking one day at a time, getting stronger, training hard and looking forward to getting back on court,” Svitolina recently told Reuters. It has been a year since Svitolina last played. After losing her openers in Indian Wells and Miami last March, Svitolina announced an indefinite break from tennis.

Last May, Svitolina announced her pregnancy and at that point it was clear that the Ukrainian’s 2022 season was over. In January, Svitolina admitted that she needed a break from tennis. “I didn’t touch a racket for seven months.

I wanted to switch off from tennis. I had maybe too much because of what happened in the end of February and all the nerves and all the pressure. The tournaments I played were probably too much for me mentally, so I was really happy to switch off completely.

Right now, for me the goal is to come back, but I’m sure I won’t regret that I took this time off,” Svitolina said in mid-January. Judging by her recent posts and comments, it seems that Svitolina is targeting to return during the clay or grass season.
