Jacob Mendy will make his international debut this afternoon, when The Gambia takes on Côte d’Ivoire in their 2026 World Cup Qualifier.
It’s his second time in the Scorpions squad, after receiving a call-up in the summer for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixtures.
He remained an unused substitute for their opening group match against Burundi on Thursday, as they were defeated 3-1 at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium. However today, he gets the chance to represent the Red Dragons on the world stage.
Their fixture takes place this afternoon in Tanzania once again and Ivory Coast opened their group campaign in emphatic fashion.
A 9-0 victory against Seychelles launched them into second place in the group, only behind Gabon who have played one game more.
You can tune into this afternoon’s fixture this afternoon on FIFA TV, which kicks off at 16:00 GMT.
Everyone at Wrexham AFC wishes Jacob the very best ahead of today’s game.
