In January last year, multinational manufacturing firm Fabrinet UK announced it would be closing down its Calne factory on Harris Road, in Port Marsh Industrial Estate.

The firm was due to vacate the premises, where it had operated for decades, by the end of March, 2023, in a move that affected around 100 members of staff.

Over a year later the site remains on the market and has been listed as available to let for £400,000 a year, by property consultants Alder King.

Pictures show the two-storey “high-tech” production facility has now been stripped internally and externally.

It boasts extensive office, lab, and welfare facilities alongside 108 car parking spaces and a large yard with potential for more HGV capacity.

Fabrinet UK had manufactured electronic products at the site for a number of years before announcing the factory would be axed.

At the time a spokesperson said: “Following a review of Fabrinet’s global manufacturing capacity, including a review of its operations in Calne, it has been decided to consolidate and streamline manufacturing operations in its factories, and to close the Calne facility over several months.”
