Local cameraman details spotting body during search for Michael Mosley

A coroner has revealed the suspected cause and time of Michael Mosley’s death in Greece.

It comes after CCTV footage was found that appears to show Dr Michael Mosley falling while walking down a rocky hillside, close to where his body was discovered.

The TV star’s body was discovered in a rocky area close to Agia Marina beach on Sunday following a major five-day search on the Greek island of Symi.

Bar staff at the resort have said it’s a “mystery” his body was not found sooner, and added that it had been “heartbreaking” that no one had seen him in distress.

The 67-year-old was last seen leaving Saint Nikolas beach at around 1.30pm on Wednesday, setting off for a coastal walk in searing heat without his mobile phone.

Tributes have been pouring in for the medic, whose loved ones have described him as “extremely kind” and a “brilliant science broadcaster” after his tragic death.

Dr Mosley’s wife Dr Clare Bailey Mosley confirmed his death, leading the tributes to her “wonderful, funny, kind and brilliant” husband, while the TV doctor’s employers have also been remembering him.

Foul play not suspected – report

Mr Mosley did not sustain any injuries that indicate criminal activity, according to the report.

However, the condition of the remains made it difficult to establish an exact cause of death.

Further tests are due to take place.

Dr Mosley was a ‘immediately likeable, genuinely funny’ individual, says co-author

Mimi Spencer, who co-authored The Fast Diet with Dr Mosley, paid tribute to him as “immediately likeable, genuinely funny” and said she will “miss him terribly”.

Speaking on BBC Radio 4, she said: “In person he was very much the sort of figure that you would see on television: immediately likeable, genuinely funny, enthusiastic, he had this innate enthusiasm about life and he was always very generous with his time.

“He had a brilliant line in tangential anecdote which comes out of his broadcasting as well, that his mind would go down rabbit holes and come out with fantastic snippets of information, and talking to him in person was much like that, you never quite knew where you were going to arrive, but the journey was always fascinating.”
