Taylor Russell never puts a foot wrong when it comes to her fashion choices, and her collaboration with Loewe for this year’s Met Gala was one of her best looks yet. The actress wore a structured, wood-inspired bodice with floral details and a draped white skirt.

Zendaya in Margiela

It had been years since we had seen Zendaya walk those famous steps, and – after several incredible press tours since then – expectations were high for the co-host and her wardrobe, but she certainly delivered. The actress wore a design by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, which was a floral masterpiece inspired by his era at Dior. But one look was not enough. Zendaya graced the red carpet twice, the second time in a Givenchy spring/summer 1996 couture gown with a flower-adorned Philip Treacy headpiece from the Alexander McQueen spring/summer 2006 collection.

Greta Lee in Loewe

This year marked Greta Lee’s first ever appearance at the Met Gala, and it was quite the debut. The actress wore a structured white gown by Loewe, which was created in completely transparent lace and adorned with 3D flower detail. Her choppy micro fringe and pink make-up was the perfect finishing touch.

The Met Gala is made for viral red-carpet moments – and this year’s came courtesy of South African singer Tyla, who had to be carried up the steps by four tuxedo-wearing men because she could not walk in her Balmain gown. The dress also nodded to the theme perfectly, a bodycast made of sand, referencing a sand timer, which she also carried as an accessory.

Phoebe Dynevor in Victoria Beckham

There was much floral romance to be enjoyed on this year’s red carpet, and one of the most elegant takes on this came from Phoebe Dynevor and Victoria Beckham. The Bridgerton star wore a dusky pink dress by the designer, which was completely sheer except for 3D flowers across the bust and train.

Kendall Jenner in vintage Givenchy

It was always going to be a great night for vintage fashion – and Kendall Jenner made an excellent call by heading into the Givenchy archives for the evening. The model chose this dress from Alexander McQueen’s Givenchy from 1999, a dress that was seen on the catwalk on a mannequin, meaning that Jenner was the first person to ever wear the gown. That might tick off the sleeping beauty theme better than anyone else.

Kaia Gerber worked with Prada on a white sequin gown, which was not only a chic and elegant choice, but nodded nicely to the theme of mythical mermaids, a section of the exhibition. The strapless design was teamed with a voluminous blowdry and colourful jewels.

Elle Fanning in Balmain

It was a perfect theme for Elle Fanning who always embraces and little ethereal fashion, and nodded directly to Ballard’s work with her gown. The dress featured sculptural bird detail on the shoulder and was created in a crystalline material to look like frost.

Brie Larson in Prada

Brie Larson was another star to nod to the sand timer with her custom Prada gown, which was actually inspired by a Prada collection from 2007. A dress from that collection influenced the sunset colours of the design, while the sheer hoop skirt and sequin detail were added to embrace the theme of the passing of time.

Kylie Jenner is continuing her transformation into one of the most elegant stars to watch on the red carpet, and for the 2024 Met Gala, she chose a cream satin gown by Oscar de la Renta, which perfectly showed off her figure with an exaggerated bust and statement train, which was inspired by a garden statue.
