An airport has been plunged into chaos thanks to a power failure. Liverpool‘s John Lennon Airport is experiencing an issue with Air Traffic Control, forcing bosses to suspend all aircraft operations.

In a statement issued this afternoon, a spokesman for the airport said: “Passengers, or those meeting flights, should contact their airline for the latest flight information. Engineers are working to resolve this as soon as possible, with updates to follow.”

The method of air traffic control sees the relevant airport monitor an aircraft in its airspace by radar, allowing communication with pilots until it lands. It is currently not known how many flights are impacted and how long delays will go on for.

John Lennon airport sees carriers such as Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, Wizz Air, and Aer Lingus use it on a daily basis.
